Polyglot Pages Journal of Languages and Literatures is a premier academic publication proudly hosted by the Department of Foreign Languages at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI). We are a community of scholars, linguists, and literary critics dedicated to exploring the intersection of indigenous African heritages and global linguistic frameworks.

The scope of the journal encompasses a broad array of topics within the field, including but not limited to:
- Linguistics: Anthropological Linguistics , Sociolinguistics , Language Acquisition , and Phonology.
- Literature: English Literature , African French Literature, African Studies , Comparative Literature, and Local Languages.
- Culture: Ethnic and Gender Studies , Culture and Identity , and Cross-Cultural Studies.
- Documentation: Documentation of indigenous and endangered languages.
Our journal welcomes both qualitative and quantitative research, as well as theoretical and empirical studies. We prioritize publications that offer new insights, employ robust methodologies, and contribute to the broader understanding of linguistic phenomena.
Editorial Policies
All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the research published. The review process is double-blind, meaning both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous to each other throughout the process.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere. Manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using appropriate software, and those with a high similarity index may be rejected or returned for revision.
Authorship and Ethics
Authorship: All listed authors should have made a significant contribution to the research and approved the final version.
Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could be viewed as potential conflicts of interest.
Ethical Considerations: Research involving human subjects must adhere to ethical standards and obtain necessary approvals from relevant ethics committees in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.
Open Access Policy & Fees
Polyglot Pages follows a gold open access model, which means all articles are freely accessible online without any subscription barriers.
Licensing: Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), allowing others to share and adapt the work with proper attribution.
Copyright: Authors retain the copyright of their work but grant the journal the right to publish.
Article Processing Charge (APC) Waiver Policy
Polyglot Pages Journal charges a standard APC of USD 35 upon acceptance of a manuscript. However, the journal is committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent the publication of high-quality research. Authors from low-income countries or those experiencing financial hardship may apply for a full or partial waiver by contacting the editorial office at [email protected] before submission. Waiver requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Submission Guidelines
To ensure a smooth submission process and that your manuscript meets our professional standards, please follow these guidelines:
- Method: Submit your manuscript to [email protected]
- Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in either .doc or .docx format.
- Adherence: Ensure your manuscript adheres strictly to all formatting and style guidelines listed below.
Page Setup
- A4 or Letter size
- 1-inch margins all sides
- Times New Roman, 12 pt throughout
- Double-spaced (2.0) everywhere, no extra paragraph spacing
- First line of paragraphs indented ½ inch
Professional Title Page
- Paper Title: Bold, centered, and font size 18.
- Author Details: List author names and affiliations in bold, centered, at font size 12.
- Corresponding Author: Clearly identify the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and provide their functional contact details.
Abstract and Keywords
- Abstract: Provide a concise summary of 250–300 words.
- Content: The abstract must include the research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
- Keywords: Include 3–5 keywords relevant to your study to assist in indexing.
Main Text & References (MLA 7th Edition)
- Section Headings: Main headings (e.g., INTRODUCTION, LITERATURE REVIEW) must be bold, uppercase, and font size 14.
- Subheadings: Use bold font at size 12.
- In-Text Citations: Follow the MLA parenthetical style (Author Page Number).
- Works Cited: Provide a complete list of references at the end of the paper, formatted according to MLA 7th Edition guidelines.
- Figures and Tables: Insert high-resolution figures and tables within the manuscript near their first mention, including descriptive captions.
Note: Polyglot Pages accepts submissions in MLA (Humanities-focused) or APA (Social Science-focused) styles, provided the chosen style is used consistently throughout the manuscript.

Reviewer Guidelines
Review Criteria
- Reviewers assess the manuscript based on originality, significance, methodological rigor, clarity, and contribution to the field.
- Relevance: Evaluate if the manuscript is relevant to the journal’s scope.
- Constructive Comments: Provide detailed feedback to help authors improve their work.
- Recommendations: Reviewers must recommend one of the following: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject.
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the review process
Retraction and Correction Policy
Polyglot Pages Journal of Languages and Literatures is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. In cases where errors, misconduct, or ethical violations are identified in published articles, the journal will take appropriate corrective action including:
Correction: A correction notice will be issued for minor errors that do not affect the conclusions of the article.
Retraction: Articles found to contain major errors, fabricated data, plagiarism, or ethical violations will be retracted. A retraction notice stating the reason will be published and permanently linked to the original article.
Expression of Concern: Where an investigation is ongoing, an expression of concern may be issued pending resolution.
All retraction notices will remain permanently accessible alongside the original article. The journal follows the retraction guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Polyglot Pages Journal of Languages and Literatures embraces the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and publishing. We recognize AI as a valuable tool that can enhance research quality when used transparently and ethically.
For Authors:
- Authors are encouraged to use AI tools responsibly to improve the clarity, grammar, and presentation of their manuscripts.
- Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all submitted work.
- AI tools cannot be listed as co-authors or cited as primary sources.
For Peer Reviewers:
- Reviewers may use AI tools to assist with language editing of their reviews but must ensure their assessment reflects their own independent scholarly judgment.
- Confidentiality of submitted manuscripts must be maintained when using any AI tool.
For Editors:
- Editors may use AI tools to support editorial processes while ensuring all final decisions remain human-driven.
- Any systematic use of automated tools in editorial processes will be disclosed.
